Federico Frigerio

Project of a building dedicated to Alessandro Volta,work of Federico Frigerio

"After graduating in architecture in 1896 at the Politecnico di Milano , he obtained a degree also at the Brera Accademia , joining the rigorous technological training with a wide historical-artistic formation. (..) In 1910 Federico Frigerio projected and realized  the first building with structural parts in reinforced concrete, located in the city of Como , the Politeama theater. (..) Federico Frigerio's masterpiece is the Volta Temple in Como, wanted and funded by the entrepreneur Francesco Somaini to host the memorabilia of Alessandro Volta . Some of the volcanic memorabilia had been recovered by Frigerio himself from the fire of the Great Exposition pavilions of 1899 , built in Como to celebrate the centenary of the Volta Pile .(...)
