Herman Verbaere [ 1st Part (1962/1970) ]

"Verbaere received his first training at the Academy of Wetteren, where he became laureate in 1924 and continued his studies at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent . (..) He worked for several graphic companies and gained a wealth of experience in the art of print. He was a skilled lithographer and has drawn countless illustrations and posters . (..) For 30 years he has combined a limited teaching assignment with his work as a professional artist. (..) Herman Verbaere mainly focused on landscapes and city views, a genre in which he painted an unrivaled oeuvre. His work was dominated by the watercolor, but he also left important work in other disciplines. From the beginning of his career, he specialized in the art of posters , landscapes and monuments for the benefit of tourism. The posters were made by order of the successive Belgian governments, the provincial government and perhaps the most famous ones for the Belgian railways. (..) "
